Future House Music (FHM), one of the most influential independent labels in electronic music, is marking its 10th anniversary with the release of a documentary that highlights its incredible journey. Premiered on YouTube, the film takes fans through FHM’s evolution—from a small Facebook fan page in 2014 to a global leader in the EDM-house music scene.
Founded as a community for future house enthusiasts, FHM quickly grew into a hub for connecting fans and artists. By 2015, it had transformed into a record label, launching its first single by Jonas Aden. Over the years, FHM has become synonymous with releases from top-tier talents like Brooks, Skytech, Wankelmut, and Sikdope. Despite initial challenges, such as building a team and navigating copyright issues, co-founder Aart van den Dool credits their success to resilience and surrounding themselves with the right people.
FHM’s milestones are remarkable. From opening its first office in Rotterdam in 2016 to hosting a festival stage at We Are Electric in 2017, the label’s growth has been unstoppable. Viral hits like “Brass” in 2018 and reaching 1 million YouTube subscribers in 2019 further cemented its position in the industry.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented challenges, particularly for live events and club-focused music. However, FHM adapted and remained committed to its mission of fostering talent and building a strong community. This dedication resulted in innovative ventures like the Future House Music Awards in 2020, global showcases in 2023, and partnerships with artists worldwide.
Their latest milestone, the release of the documentary at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE), celebrates not only their achievements but also the passion, teamwork, and perseverance that define their legacy. As co-founder Gino van Eijk puts it, “This documentary is more than a celebration; it’s a story of pushing boundaries and building something meaningful.”
As Future House Music looks to the future, its commitment to innovation, emerging talent, and community-driven growth ensures its place at the forefront of house music for years to come.
