Amsterdam’s CLUB RAUM Launches Residency Programme for Emerging Artists

Amsterdam’s CLUB RAUM, in collaboration with queer party SPIELRAUM, has unveiled a new artist-in-residency programme designed to support emerging artists across multiple disciplines. Developed in partnership with the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts (AFK), this initiative aims to provide mid-career and graduate professionals with the resources and mentorship they need to take the next step in their creative journey.

A Unique Opportunity for Emerging Artists

The CLUB RAUM residency offers a structured three-month program that provides selected artists with a €1000 monthly stipend, a production budget, and access to a 200-square-meter workspace. Additionally, participants will receive guidance from mentors in their respective fields. The programme is open to artists, writers, designers, researchers, and interdisciplinary creatives who have a strong connection to queer and nightlife culture. Practices involving sound, light, performance, writing, and object-based mediums are all encouraged.

Residency Timeline and Structure

The initiative will run in three cycles throughout 2025:

  • March – May
  • July – September
  • October – December

At the end of each residency, artists will present their work during one of CLUB RAUM’s weekenders, offering them an opportunity to showcase their projects in a public setting. The program is specifically tailored for self-taught or formally trained artists who are at a pivotal point in their careers, though students are not eligible to apply.

Application Details

The open call for the first residency cycle closes on February 15th. Applicants should be based in Amsterdam and available for the entire three-month period. Those interested in applying can find more details via the link in CLUB RAUM’s bio or reach out to [email protected] for further inquiries (no direct messages accepted).

Empowering the Next Generation of Artists

This residency marks CLUB RAUM’s first structured effort to foster creative development while improving material conditions for artists in Amsterdam. With support from AFK, the program underscores the venue’s commitment to inclusivity and artistic exploration within the city’s vibrant cultural scene.
